The Port Moresby club competition starts on the 8th March before the Port Moresby Open which is held over the Easter weekend. The local club competitions are run by the local bodies and the "opens" are run by the local body on behalf of the national body. ie The club competition & the POM open in Easter will be organised by POMBSA.

The snooker is run under international laws and is affiliated domestically and internationally. eg Domestically - Snooker as an affiliated sport to the PNG Sports Commission - the PNG body has sent teams to international competitions on a regular basis for many years and the PNG Snooker President attendance at an annual overseas conference is sponsored by the international body.

The Open

The Snooker bodies (POM & PNG) will want to use the SPMSC as venue for the Easter Port Moresby open, the Women’s titles, & the National Titles.

Club Competition

There are nomination forms up on notice board and nominations close one week prior to commencement of competition.

Teams which will use SPMSC as home ground this year (all players are members). Car Club will put up at least two A grade teams and possibly 4 B grade teams

In House Competitions

  • Car Club Ladies Championship will be run over the 9 – 10April with round robins being played off in the two weeks prior. This will be a good lead up for our ladies coming into the National women’s titles two weeks after this event.
  • An open match is planned for 14 – 15 May with round robins to be played off before hand.
  • A Tentative challenge between the car club and one of the clubs in Suva (Figi) is being planned for approximately July / August
  • The annual Car Club handicap competition will be run in October playing off for prizes and the Lars Peterson Perpetual trophy
  • The Annual Mixed doubles competition will be played in November once again being played for prizes and the Lars Peterson Perpetual trophy
